The United Kingdom (UK) becomes a full member of three international associations. In addition to the International Medical Device Regulatory Forum (IMDRF) and the US-based Medical Devices Innovation Consortium (MDIC), now also in the International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH). Before leaving the EU ("Brexit"), the MHRA was a member of both the IMDRF and the ICH under the EU system, became an observer state after Brexit and is now a sovereign full member.
Dr Glenn Wells, Chief International and Partnerships Officer at MHRA, commented:
"We are pleased to be working with these three international organisations on regulatory alignment that will help ensure safer, innovative and more cost-effective medicines and medical devices get to the people who need them faster".
