Recommendation
14-16 October 2025
GMP Compliance and Technology for the Manufacture of Oral Solid Dosage Forms
The Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI) has updated two guidelines from the VDI 2083 series and published them for comment. VDI 2083 4.1 describes the planning, construction and initial commissioning of cleanrooms, while VDI 2083 4.2 covers the energy efficiency of cleanrooms.
VDI 2083 4.1 – Planning, construction and initial commissioning of cleanrooms
the current version of Sheet 4.1 dates from October 2006. The new version has grown from 48 to 70 pages and describes the life cycle of cleanrooms as investment projects with a focus on cleanroom-specific aspects. The systematic approach described includes the detailed recording of user requirements with risk analysis, planning preparation and the implementation of the individual planning stages, initial commissioning and training of the personnel involved. The necessary documentation in the individual project phases is also described.
The table of contents of the new VDI 2083 Sheet 4.1 guideline is freely available. The draft itself can be obtained from DIN Media.
The comment period runs until 31 December 2025.
VDI 2083 4.2 - Cleanroom technology – Energy efficiency
VDI 2083 Sheet 4.2 is currently from 2011. The new version has changed from 59 to 47 pages. The new version of VDI 2083 Sheet 4.2 focuses on cleanroom-specific energy saving potential. It provides recommendations for minimising energy consumption in new and existing clean areas, including the associated ventilation and air conditioning technology. It is applicable to the design, construction, commissioning and operation of cleanrooms. The scope covers the electronics, aerospace, nuclear, pharmaceutical, hospital, medical device and food industries.
Here you will find the table of contents of the new draft VDI 2083 Sheet 4.2. Comments can also be submitted until 31 December 2025. The draft can also be purchased from DIN Media.
