How to Audit Logistics Service Providers
As already reported in our newsletter, Swissmedic has been planning for some time to put a SwissGMDP database into operation, similar to the EudraGMDP database.
In a press release dated 20 September 2024, the authority has now announced that the SwissGMDP database is available at a SwissGMDP website.
It says: "The Swissmedic SwissGMDP database lists all establishment licence holders domiciled in Switzerland as well as all the operating sites and activities that are authorised. It is also possible to consult the good manufacturing practice (GMP) and good distribution practice (GDP) certificates to verify the compliance status of the operating sites of the authorisation holders. SwissGMDP became accessible to the general public in 2024."
The SwissGMDP database offers:
- Public access for all users;
- Free-of-charge access to electronic GMP/GDP certificates;
- Access to GDP certificates of companies whose licence covers only GDP activities;
- Inclusion of Switzerland-specific activities;
- Creation of Excel lists based on specific search criteria or for all sites;
- Improvement of the exchange of information between regulatory authorities, industry and the public;
- Support in protecting the medicinal product and active substance distribution chain by making it easier to check legitimate players.
Swissmedic has summarised further information on using the SwissGMDP database in Guidance document.
