When “Human Error” isn’t enough: Successful Failure Investigation
The Chinese State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) and the Ministry of Finance of China have introduced a programme on rewarding whistleblowers, the so called Reward Measures for Reporting Illegal Activities Concerning Food and Drug. The idea is to "encourage the public to report illegal activities so as to discover, control and eliminate potential safety risks concerning food and drug in time, and to crack down on illegal and criminal activities concerning food and drug".
If the agency verifies reports on illegal actions, rewards can be paid up to 300.000 Yuan which is about 35.000€.
