Revision of the DIN 11865 Standard for Stainless-Steel Components
Recommendation

22/23 September 2026
Organisation of a GMP-compliant Site Change
With the draft DIN 11865:2026-02, the next revision of the standard for stainless-steel components used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries is now available. It is intended to replace DIN 11865:2020-07; based on the current status in the responsible committees, publication of the new edition is expected in Q3/Q4 2026.
The key changes at a glance:
- Inclusion of 88° and 92° elbows.
- Inclusion of end caps.
- Inclusion of reducers between series A–B, A–C and B–C.
- Additional nominal size combinations for tees.
- Reorganisation of the material information within the main body of the standard.
- Reference to corrosion testing in accordance with DIN 50024 and DIN EN ISO 10309.
This revision is not merely an editorial update; it represents a clear expansion of the standard. The draft covers additional components, transitions and geometries that are particularly relevant for piping systems in the pharmaceutical industry.
At the same time, the draft indicates a closer alignment with ASME BPE. End caps as well as certain dimensions of series C have been harmonised with ASME BPE.
The revision is therefore especially relevant for companies that plan, design, assess from a standards perspective, or procure equipment and systems in line with hygienic design criteria. It primarily affects decisions on component selection, interfaces between series, documentation, and technical specifications.
