Sandra Gay and Geert Verdonk become members of the advisory board of ECA's Rapid Methods Group

Effective since 1 September Geert Verdonk from MSD in Oss/Netherlands and Sandra Gay from bioMérieux in Lyon/France become members of the advisory board of ECA's Rapid Microbiological Methods Working Group.

Sandra holds an engineer degree and a Masters of Science in biology. She obtained a PhD in Oncology at the University of Claude Bernard (Lyon, France).  After several years as consultant in strategy and marketing for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, Sandra joined bioMérieux as Global Scientific Marketing Manager Biopharma.  At bioMérieux, she is today in charge of helping pharmaceutical companies to define and implement next generation microbiology test complying with regulatory guidelines. Sandra is also a member of the PDA Letter Editorial Committee.

Mr Verdonk has been with MSD (formerly Organon Oss and Schering Plough ) since 1996. He worked for 15 years in the molecular biology research. For the past 5 years he managed the microbiological development group in Oss, the Netherlands. He is responsible for validation activities, development of new microbiological technologies (rapid microbiological methods) and troubleshooting microbiological contaminations in pharmaceutical production processes. Mr Verdonk is member of the expert group RMM from the European Pharmacopoeia and is co-author of chapter 5.1.6 in the EP. The microbiological development group in Oss runs an active rapid microbiological methods program and already implemented several rapid technologies.
