In April 2026, the updated texts of Ph. Eur. 13.1 were published and listed on the EDQM (European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare) website under the Pharmeuropa section. This includes, for example, the revised general chapter '2.1.7. Balances for analytical purposes'.
Among other things, the section on "Minimum weight" was presented in much greater detail, and the terms "multiple range balances" and "multi-interval balances" were newly introduced, with their differing requirements described. In addition to formal changes, the new text contains explanations and clarifications on the topic of "Equipment Performance".
After a one-time registration on the Pharmeuropa website, you can view the complete updated text of chapter "2.1.7. Balances for analytical purposes" as well as all other updated texts of Ph. Eur. 13.1, which will come into force on 1 January 2027.
