New Version of VDI Guideline 2083 Sheet 15

The VDI has updated guideline VDI 2083 Sheet 15 'Cleanroom technology - Personnel at the clean workplace'. The new edition 2026-09 replaces the 2007-04 version. The guideline sets out cleanroom-related requirements for people and their clothing and provides guidance on training, behaviour in cleanrooms and effectiveness checks.

The guideline explains that particle input caused by personnel can be influenced through suitable cleanroom clothing, training and workplace design. It covers measures intended to keep the effects of the 'human contamination factor' within defined limits. In particular, the guideline addresses workplace-related requirements for clothing (Chapter 3, including function, requirements, storage/donning, and checks before and during use), selection criteria for cleanroom personnel (Chapter 4), education and training (Chapter 5), rules of conduct at the clean workplace (Chapter 6, including additional rules for behaviour in low-turbulence displacement flows), and effectiveness checks for monitoring in the work area and for ongoing monitoring (Chapter 7). The chapter structure has remained broadly comparable in both editions. The guideline is addressed to operators of cleanrooms and to staff working in cleanrooms.
