The U.S. Food and Drug Administration FDA reports about a theft of more than 16.000 packages of fertility drugs, Gonal-f RFF Redi-ject and Gonal-f Multi-Dose in Italy.
The products were stolen on 17 May 17 2018 and were intended to be shipped to the United States. The crime itself took place near Bari, Italy, when a delivery truck was hijacked. U.S. Customs have been alerted to the possibility of illegal shipments into the U.S. However stakeholders and patients in Europe should also be alerted as these products might also enter the supply chain here.
For more detailed information please see the FDA information entitled "FDA alerts health care professionals, patients, and the drug supply chain not to use stolen fertility drugs, Gonal-f RFF Redi-ject and Gonal-f Multi-Dose".
