European GDP Association nominates Alfred Hunt as new Advisory Board Member and Deputy Chair

The European GDP Association, representing about 3.500 professionals from across the globe, has extended its Board. Alfred Hunt was invited to join the Advisory Board and accepted to take over the role as a Deputy Head.

Alfred Hunt has extensive experience in various roles in both medicinal products and medical devices. He is a consultant working in the GDP and GMP area for more than six years. From 2008 until 2015 he was an Inspector with the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA), formerly the Irish Medicines Board (IMB). During this time he conducted inspections of wholesalers of finished medicinal products, finished product manufacturers, active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturers, distributors and importers within Ireland. He was also key member of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) drafting group which developed the revised EU GDP Guidelines (2013/C 343/01). Prior to being employed with the HPRA he held various positions within the medicinal product and medical devices industries in Ireland. He is a Chemical Engineer by training.

During the European GDP Association's yearly Board Meeting on 25 June 2021, Dr Afshin Hosseiny, GDP Association Advisory Board Chairman, introduced Alfred Hunt as a new member and Deputy Chair of the GDPA Advisory Board: "I am really pleased that Alfred joins the Advisory Board and accepted to take over the role as a Deputy Chair. This is a great opportunity for us to have Alfred in our team to help us to develop our future plans and deliver objectives in helping the colleagues in pharma industry. He has experience in the pharmaceutical industry, worked as an inspector and as a consultant. With this mixture of background and knowledge, Alfred will fit in the team nicely. I look forward to working with Alfred."
