EDQM updates List of available Reference Standards
Recommendation

10/11 February 2026
Risk analysis, preventive measures and incident management
As recently reported, the list of available reference standards is updated at regular intervals and published on the EDQM's (European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare) website. In March 2022, the list, which comprises more than 3.000 substances, was again revised and the resulting changes, innovations and updates were listed in the newsroom of the EDQM website.
In the current version, 13 reference standards were replaced by new batches, some substances were deleted from the list of reference substances (8 since January 2022 and 10 since April 2022) or deleted in the future (from July 2022 onwards). For all these substances, a transitional period of one year was granted until they are completely removed from the list, and they can still be purchased for a certain defined period.
There were also price changes for two standards and a change in the transport and storage conditions for one substance.
Please see the EDQM website for the complete list of all available reference standards and the substances affected by the updates.
