End of April 2026, the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) has published a “Key Insights” newsletter item focusing on chromatography in the BP and selected system suitability test (SST) requirements described in the chapter “Chromatographic Separation Techniques”.
The article covers:
- System suitability requirements in Chromatographic Separation Techniques (CST),
- Peak symmetry
- System sensitivity
In particular, the article highlights that CST requirements may apply even if SST criteria are not explicitly stated in an individual monograph. It also notes that peak symmetry requirements relate to the peak(s) used for quantitation, and explains how sensitivity expectations (signal-to-noise) can be specified to ensure compliance with CST, for example where correction factors greater than 1 are used.
