New Developments in Alternative Pyrogen Testing

In 2009, the Monocyte Activation Test (MAT) was established as alternative test  of  pyrogen in the European Pharmacopoeia. Scientists developed three different methods of MAT. Until today, there was one commercial test system available on the market, based on one of these methods. Recently, a second supplier came with a new MAT using the monocytic cell line MonoMac6 on the market. Furthermore, the first users gained some experience with implementation and validation of the previously available MAT in their daily business.

Related to these developments, the agenda of the Education Course "Endotoxin and Pyrogen Testing" on 28 and 29 June in Heidelberg, Germany, will comprise two additional presentations: "Optimized MAT using the monocytic cell line MonoMac6" by Ms Anja Fritsch, Confarma, France and "Experiences with MAT on Testing Medical Devices" by Dr. Walter Zwisler, Zwisler Laboratory, Germany . These lectures will allow you to get familiar with the different methods and their use.

More details about the Education course can be found in the programme.
