EMEA Plans Revision of Several Guidelines as well as 
New Guideline on  Herbal Medicinal Products

 
On 2 February 2006, the meeting report of the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) of 11-12 January 2006 was published on EMEA's website. The report presents HMPC's current activities.

The discussion points included the following issues:

  • In February, a harmonised interpretation of the term "external use" referring to the registration for traditional drug application will be published.

  • A whole number of guidelines is going to be revised.

  • There will be a new guideline on "Good agricultural and collection practice for starting materials of herbal origin (GACP)".

  • In the area of GMP regulations, a revision of the 7th Annex on the manufacture of herbal medicinal products is planned.
