European GDP Association nominates two new Advisory Board Members

The European GDP Association, representing close to 1.900 professionals from across the globe, has extended its Advisory Board by two new members. On the authority side Emil Schwan from the Swedish Medical Products Agency accepted his nomination, on the industry side Saddam Huq from GlaxoSmithKline was invited to join the Board.

Until recently, the authority side of the European GDP Association was only represented by Johanna Linnolahti from the Finnish Medicines Agency FIMEA. Now Emil Schwan from the Swedish Medical Products Agency (MPA) accepted his invitation to the Advisory Board. He holds a MSc. in pharmacy from Uppsala University and worked as a technical advisor for ACO HUD and as a product developer for Orexo before joining the MPA. Today he is Pharmaceutical Inspector at the authority's Drug Inspectorate and a member of the co-ordinating committee for the PIC/S expert circle on GDP.

As part of the Authority Advisory Board Emil Schwan will not be part of the legal structure. The Advisory Board Members support the GDP Working Group on a case by case decision and not for all of its activities.

On the industry side Saddam Huq from GlasxoSmithKline was nominated as new member. He holds a BSc. in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky and started his career as a process engineer for Tycohealthcare. After various positions at Fresenius Kabi, Wyeth Biotech and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, he joined GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in 2011, where he is today Global QA Senior Manager, Distribution and Cold Chain.

"We are happy we could win Emil and Saddam for the Board. Their experience and knowledge will be an excellent addition to the team". Dr Afshin Hosseiny, GDP Association Advisory Board Chairman commented the two new appointments.
