Objectives
This unique event is designed to provide an overview on the automated systems that are used in the pharmaceutical industry today for text verification and object verification of printed packaging materials. It is the aim of this conference to present some of these systems concretely from the perspective of users from the pharmaceutical industry.

Background
Automated text control is gaining importance in the inspection of incoming packaging materials (folding boxes, package inserts, labels, etc.). On the one hand because it renders text comparison more reliable, and on the other hand because the users hope that it will make their text comparison more efficient. However, the prerequisite for automated text control is a comprehensive GMP-compliant validation of the implemented systems.

These days, one can find quite a number of systems on the market that are implemented in the pharmaceutical industry. Typically, these automated text control systems are used for inspecting incoming printed packaging materials. Some systems will be presented at this conference from the user’s perspective: According to which criteria did the users choose a system? Which are the assets and drawbacks of the individual devices? How much validation and qualification activities were necessary?

As the process of developing and releasing printed packaging materials in pharmaceutical companies is very complex, the systems for text and artwork management become more and more important. Therefore, real-life examples will also be given for these systems at this conference.

The programme is rounded off by a guided tour of a printing works for pharmaceutical packaging materials and by the parallel conference exhibition, where suppliers of systems for text control and text management will introduce their latest products.
